On June 22nd 1690, King William spent many hours inspecting his army on Blaris Moor (Near Lisburn, North Ireland). His army consisted of 36,000 men, of these were, 10,000 Danes some were from Norway, some from Sweden, and some from Finland. 7,000 Dutch and Brandenburgers, 2,000 French Huguenots, 11,000 English and Scots, 800 Derrymen, 4,500 Inniskilleners and two companies from Bandon in Cork, Ireland.
So, your family story sure rings true!! It would probably account for you being in Canada this very day, as many emigrated from Ireland for a better life elsewhere. There are Muster Rolls available that list all Army personal, this would include troops who faught with King William. These records are held in London, England.I hope this has been of some help to you. Regards, Linda Corbett, England.
