Hello. I was surprised to read this posting - I am a direct descendent of the eighth baronet - my Father was the 12th and my brother is the 13th. I grew up at Gilmerton (House) and now live 10 miles away. The title began with Frances. The King owed him money but could not repay. Instead he granted Frances the title and bestowed upon him lands in Nova Scotia. I always thought that we must have relatives in North America and from reading your posting (and others) it appears that I was right. We never knew what happened to the estate in 'Nova Scotia' - I suspect it changed hands long ago. I hope you (or someone) replies to this posting. I can provide you with plenty of info. on the family in Scotland, both past and present. Hope this helps.
Jamie (Kinloch)
