Re Helen Ferrier, spouse of James Kinloch. She was dr. of James Ferrier and Helen Coutts born 1776. She had 10 siblings that I know of including sister Susan Ferrier who became a well-known novelist of the early 19th century. Ferrier family is well documented, they held lands in West Lothian and Ayrshire in Scotland. Mostly they were soldiers but James (Helen's father) took up law and became the Principal Clerk of the Court of Sessions in Edinburgh. He died in 1829. I am not related to the Ferriers but have researched them as they were the owners of the estate in Scotland my ancestors were connected to.
Regards from Susan McLean
