My great-grandmother was Margaret KINNEAR born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1838.
She married George HORSNELL on 17 Feb. 1860 in the Baptist Church, Toronto.
Her parents (my great-great-grandparents) were George KINNEAR and Jane (CALLAGHAN) KINNEAR who were married on 23 Feb. 1832 by Rev. Wm. Rintoul in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Toronto.
In Walton's Toronto Directory 1833-34 George KINNEAR is listed as a Blacksmith. He is also listed as KINNEAR, George, Blacksmith, living in 1833 in Toronto (York) in 'The Central Canadians 1600-1900'.
I do not know if George was from Scotland (Presbyterian Scottish Church might indicate this) or Ireland (his wife's name is an Irish one) or England!
In the 1871 Census for Toronto, Ont. there are 3 KINNEARS listed: Philip (origin Scotland), Thomas (Ireland) and Adam T. (Ireland, C. of E.). In the 1871 Census for Grey County North, Ont. is listed Alexander (Ireland, C. of E.). Could any of these have been Margaret's brothers? They were of the right age.
Do George and Margaret KINNEAR fit with anyone else's KINNEARS? Any information would be appreciated!
Cheers, Nancy Jane (DOLPHIN) MCKEE.
