Dear Eleanor,

I'm not sure how the James Kinsella descendents shake out in Central Illinois. My cousin Patricia may know more. I was in Ireland in November and found lots of information at the parish office in Gorey. Recently one of the local priests has compiled all the local parish records into a spreadsheet and cross-indexed them in a very easy-to-use fashion.

I found, e.g., my great-grandfather, Michael Kinsella's,
baptismal records as well. These listed him as born 29 September 1839, in the Townsland of Tinashnna(gh), Gorey, County Wexford. A modern Ordnance Survey map shows the Townsland of Tinashinna(gh) about 2 km north of Gorey.

I also found that Michael's mother, Elizabeth (Lawless) Kinsella, was born in 1807 in the Townsland of Coolteenacurragh, also near Gorey. Elizabeth's parents
were listed as David Lawless and Catherine (Kean, Kian, Kien, Cain) Lawless.

I also found several relatives of Michael Kinsella's wife,
Dorothy Merna(gh), also from Gorey, including members of the
Mernagh, Costello, and Carty families.
