Eleanor, My posting of Thomas's purported sister Elizabeth (Kinsella) Lawless may be the result of a speculation that I found on one of these web fora. I remember a web conversation with someone on the issue, who thought this was the somewhat confusing case. It could be wrong! I did not see this purported sister in the parish records, nor did I find a Thomas born in 1792 with parents Edward and Elizabeth.

I looked up my notes from my recent visit to Gorey. Here are some more details of what I found in the parish records.

Thomas Kinsella married Elizabeth (Bess) Lawless. They lived in the townsland of Tinashinna. Several children are listed all of whom could be children of this union. They are

1. Thomas Kinsella, bapt. 27 August 1832
2. Michael Kinsella, bapt. 10 August 1839
3. ?Elizabeth Kinsella, bapt. 30 Sept 1838, mother listed as Elizabeth Lalor or Tinashinna
4. ?James Kinsella, bapt. 13 July 1835, parents listed as Elizabeth Lawless and Thomas Kinsley, of Tinnashinna
5. ?Edward, bapt. 18 January 1829, parents Thomas Kinsley and Elizabeth Lawless
6. ???Edward Kinsella, bapt. 28 April 1844, parents John Kinsella, Elizabeth Lawless

The marriage records list a marriage to Thomas Kinsley on 6 March 1827 (I did not write down if this also listed Elizabeth Lawless!)

On another issue the parish records show in a variety of spots a
David Lawless (or Lawlis) marrired to a Catherine {Cain, Kian, Kien} who lived in the townsland of
Coolteenacurragh. Of this union, three children can be found

1. James Lawless, bapt. 26 July 1798
2. Elizabeth Lawless, bapt. 14 February 1807
3. Mary Lawless (or Lawlis), bapt. 21 July 1804

The parish in Gorey is named St. Michael's and has been in existence since 1845. Prior to that the parish of record was the nearby St. Peter and Paul's in Kilanerin. This parish still exists and has its own set of records.

These parishes also had a trove of information on my Michael Kinsella's wife, Dorothy Mernagh's family, all of whom were from the same town, but of whom I don't think you are interested.
