Dear Brenda,
I wondered if you and Clinton would be interested in sharing information and exploring where our families have gone since 1865. I was fascinated to discover that you were searching for your history. I am the third great grandson of John Herman Kinsler of Richland County who signed the South Carolina Ordinance of Secession...which led the nation into civil war.

I would love to know what happened after the war and how our families were able to survive. Is there any way that we can open a dialogue on this and gain some insight into our family's struggle with its past? I want very much to know the history that we were never allowed to know.

Charlie Smith
Charleston, South Carolina
