Kinslow Family Genealogy Forum

I am at work and don't have all the info in front of me so dates and places could be cleared up later if you're interested. But you might be referring to this when you talk about the name being changed: most of what you read in these posts lead back to the Kinslows of Barren Co., Kentucky. It was there that Conrad Kinslow brought his family to create a large plantation. The family originally came to America from Germany to Bucks Co., Penn. then to Virginia. At this time Conrad was named Coonrod Kuntzle (or Kinzle or Kinsel, depending on the transcription you get). The name was either Anglicized or simply misspelled there. I suspect it was the former, not the latter, since he had married the English-sounding Rachel Barlow. Researchers who try to find our people in England or Ireland are usually disappointed by the slim pickin's there--the name is of American origin. The Kinchloes and Kincheloes are different folks and should not be confused with our clan. My wife and my uncle are the researchers on our end and we can get more info for you if you need it. I will say, though, that the family's penchant for recycling names (as well as our large families) throws up some interesting challenges.
