Kiplingers in Rockingham Co., VA
Unraveling one of my stickiest genealogical problems depends on the identification of the husband of Mary Kiplinger of Rockingham Co., VA.
I have a copy of some Rockingham Co. Court minutes from the late 1700s.These entries appear to be probates or a distribution of the estate of a Kiplinger of Rockingham Co., probably a man whose wife/widow was Abigail. From a little research on the family, I would suppose the deceased was George Kiplinger.
The document names several Kiplingers who are probably sons--Philip, Peter, and John as well as John Lamb, Peter Lamb and Frederick Moyers whom I believe are husbands of George Kiplinger's daughters. These documents note that Philip Kiplinger (a wife Barbara is named) is in Bourbon Co., KY and Frederick Moyers (wife is Mary) is in Washington Co., MD.
Frederick Moyers (sometimes seen as Myers or Meyer)is the one in whom I am interested.I am trying to determine if the one in Rockingham Co., VA who m. Mary Kiplinger is the Frederick Moyers/Meyer who is the son of Michael Meyer of Washington Co.I believe that Frederick Moyers later went to Grainger Co., TN.
Can anyone provide me any information about this Mary Kiplinger?Did she die in Grainger Co., TN?The Frederick Moyers who was there appears to have had a wife named Mary, but until recently we believed that this Mary was a Showman from Washington Co., MD and later Rockingham Co., VA.
Were the Kiplingers ever in Frederick Co., MD or Washington Co., MD?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Judy
