The Kirkwood Plantation still exist. It is in Eutaw Alabama, and is now a working Bed & Breakfast. They have a web site too. Their URL is The current owners have restored Kirkwood to its' original elegance. Recently, I saw a piece on Kirkwood Plantation on HGTV and almost fell out of my chair when the new owners said that when they bought the Plantation they found 39 trunks filled with Kirksey family records, pictures and documents. Perhaps this material will contain what you need. I too am a Kirksey and for years I have heard stories regarding an aleged plantation we supposedly owned before the War Between the States. I've no idea whether we did or not, but at least allow me to apologize to you and your family for your relatives enslavement. Good luck and God bless.
