Preston, Your Morgan/Kirksey connection makes me curious. This is a real long shot but I have to follow what small clues I have. I have had absolutely no luck in finding anything on my gr grandfather, W.H. (Henry) Kirksey. All I know of him is that he died, probably in Fannin co. TX, about 1895-96 and was probably in his 30's at time of death. He married Martha Cumi Horton Lee in 1886 Wood Co. TX. She was a young widow with a daughter named Lela. My grandmother, Mamie Kirksey was born 1887 in Fannin Co. TX. Two sons were born, MORGAN in abt 1891 and Virgil in abt. 1895 in Fannin Co. Martha is a widow in Fannin Co. in 1900 census and states husband was born in AL. 1910, Mamie states her father Henry was b. in TX. I have found no one that could be Henry in TX census 1850-1880. My grandmother was a young girl when her father died. I never knew my grandmother and whatever sketchy info I can gather, comes from my brother's recollections of things our grandmother told him. Henry "may have been a redhead, short,hot-tempered, fought in duels, owned a plantation in East TX." As you can see, I have very few facts to go on, other than the fact he was in Wood and Fannin Co's TX 1886-1896, and in that period of time he married, had children Mamie, Morgan and Virgil (possibly John Virgil) and he died. Do you have any knowledge of any Kirksey/Morgan connections that might fit this pitiful little collection of facts on my Henry (W.H.) Kirksey? Thanks.
