Would love to hear more info. My gg-grandfather was Gideon Kirksey. I have a copy of his daughter's Bible and it is full of info on him and his family -- but nothing about his parents:
Gideon Kirksey -- b. October 06, 1828; d. November 10, 1862
Married Siddie Travis -- December 22, 1850
Siddie Travis -- b. November 21, 1827; d. September 11, 1868
Gideon was a member of the 36th AL Infantry during the Civil War. He died in Mobile, AL as a result of pneumonia. He was transported by boat up the Alabama River back to his home county of Monroe, AL and was buried probably in the Harrison Cemetery. On the muster roll, he gives Henry County, AL as his birth place; however, on the 1860 Monroe County census he gives SC as birth place.
He had a brother whom I know about:
Noah Jackson Kirksey -- b. March 05, 1831; d. April 26, 1904. Noah lived and is buried in Monroe County, AL.
I cannot find these Kirkseys anywhere before 1860. Of course your post caught my eye. Would love to hear from you and see if there is some type of connection. Feel free to write directly.
