Gretchen, You are my first light in over 2 years in researching my Kirksey family. The only thing I have on Mary Ann and Eliza Jane's parents is that they were lost at sea returning to check on some property they owned in Karmleigh(sp?)Scotland. I do not know the date or whether they were lost at sea on the trip over or trip returning. This is all from the tape recorded by my great Aunt Narcisse Kirksey, the youngest child of Mary Ann and John Thomas Michael Kirksey. The parents of Mary Ann and Liza Jane had left them with their grandmother when they went back to Scotland. You may aleady know all this. In the Clark County, Arkansas 1850 Federal Census the 2 girls are listed on page 193, Line 27 and 28. Since the 2 girls are listed by themselves it may be that the parents were aleady dead at this time. Mary Ann is my ggrandmother and I have all decendants from my grandfather Thomas Wilburn Kirksey (Mary Ann and Michael's eldest son). I would like to correspoond with you directly if you would give me your e-mail address. Mine is <>.
