Hi Joe, I am a new member and have just recently read your message. While I dont have any personal knowdledge of your family member I do know alot about my ggg grandfather ELEAZER WASHINGTON KIRKSEY. He was born in 1834 in Al. I have been told that after the Civil War most of the Kirkseys left Al. and moved to Texas. The Kirkseys were ,before the war ,cotton growers and of course that wasn't possible after Sherman came to visit.I have also been told that there are more Kirkseys in Lubbuck (sp) Texas than there are Smiths. There is a RICHARD KIRKSEY listed in the 1870 census as being in Greene County Al. I would love to discuss our family with you .Please contact me by e-mail.

JOY Johns
