Missing, a Red-headed, short Kirksey

According to family lore by my grandmother, my gr grandfather, W. H. (Henry) Kirksey was a short, redheaded man, who fought in several duels. Supposedly, he (or, I suspect, his family) owned a plantation. I can place him in Wood Co. TX (marriage in 1885 to Martha Cumi Horton Lee.) My grandmother, Mamie Kirksey Labor was b. in Fannin Co. TX 7 Nov 1887. The youngest son, Virgil, was b. Fannin Co. TX abt 1896. Martha is a widow in Fannin Co census 1900. Martha states her husband was b. in AL. (date unknown) Mamie states her father b. in TX. I have checked every Kirksey in TX census's from 1850-1880. The only two WM. H. Kirksey's would've been 25-30 yrs older than Martha and one was married. I'm desperate and now am searching by genetics. Does anyone have redheaded, short and hot-tempered Kirkseys?? I need some kind of clue!!
