Shirley Severson, 70, Fergus Falls, died Dec. 11, 2005, at her home after a year of loving care from Hospice and her family.
She was born April 27, 1935, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Kiser) Washek. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church of Maine and attended school at District No. 22 and Underwood High School. On Nov. 11, 1952, she married Earl (Bud) Severson at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Elizabeth. The couple resided in Fergus Falls where she was a stay-at-home mom and day care provider.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, word finds, cross-word and jig saw puzzles. She loved playing piano and accordion and spending time with friends and family was important to her. She was an “angel” to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband; children: Barbara (Daryl) Ecker, Fergus Falls, Deborah (Ray) Cossette, Fairmount, N.D. and Duane (Julie) Severson, Pelican Rapids; grandchildren: Kyle (Suzie) Ecker, Dustin (DJ) Ecker, Stephanie Bond (Ron Hopkins), Chad Cossette and Jordan Severson; great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Dakota, Ashton and Brodie Ecker and Skyler and Amiah Bond; sisters, Mary (Don) Anderson, Bloomington, Minn., and Lillian Jacobson, Fergus Falls; brothers: Larry Washek and Jerry (Renee) Washek, both of Underwood, and Kenneth (Mickey) Washek, Henning.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willy Washek; infant brother, Robert; grandson Timothy Bond; brother-in-law Kenneth Jacobson; nephew Ricky Washek; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mildred and Ludvig Severson.
Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church in Maine
Clergy: Rev. Paul Folsom
Burial: Church Cemetery
