From Marshall Lowe John and Jacob Kiser came to Bourbon County about the year 1783 after their parents John and Margaret “camped out” and staked out a land claim a year or two earlier for land in Fayette Co across the Licking River from Bourbon County. In descending order of genealogical inerest has been John, Jacob, and the three sisters, Elizabeth, Polly and Nancy. Curiously, on a published register of Bourbon County marriages between 1786 and 1800 there is a listing for a single Kiser (with all its variant spellings) surname marriage. It was of an 8 Oct 1595 marriage of Elizabeth Kiser to John Zinn. (I am eventual issue of this marriage.) Published information (all of it quite old) contains contradictory information as to whether Kiser immigrants came from Holland or from Germany. The Dutch version seems the best documented. Dirck Keyser, an Amsterdam silk merchant, went to Germantown PA in 1688, and the family eventually moved on to Frederick Co MD. According to all accounts, it was from Fredercik County MD that John and Margaret Kiser with their five children in the early 1780’s. What do you know about MD Keysers? MY QUERY IS THIS: Can a Frederick Co MD genealogical connection between the erst-while Germantown Keyers, and the future Bourbon Co Kisers be documented? Notify Administrator about this message?
