Your family sure skirted all the way around Taney County, but so many of the families in Taney County were also in Ozark County,Douglas Co & Greene Co, MO.
No town in Missouri that is named Selden in this day and age...it might have been one of those towns that no longer exists...you might check the archives in Douglas, Ozarkand Taney Co MO to see if they an old map or a list of the old Post Offices.
Of course, Mark Twain Forest encompasses a large area, skips here and there.
Just a long shot, I looked in our old Atlas [1950], I found a Shelden, MO in southern Vernon County, which is on the southwest side of MO bordering KS. I did not find that town on the map today.
So many died during the war & from so many diseases.
The children were taken in by family to raise.
Sorry I did not find Jasper on the CD. But I will keep my eyes peeled for that name and will let you know if anything pops up.
Good luck in your search and do let me know what you find.
I am not a direct descendant of the Kissee family but my Stuart family married into that family...also my father was born and raised in Kissee Mills, MO.
