I wonder if your Kissee that vacated is one of the Kissee's that refused to take the oath of allegiance to the Union. I've been told about one such Kissee that moved to South America to keep from being forced to take the oat. I wish I could remember if I was given a name with that story. Another woman in the family was said to have been tortured by Union soldiers by putting fire to her feet and she was left crippled for the rest of her life as a result, but I understand she never divulged the information they were trying to force from her.
