My father, Walter A. Hicinbothem, Jr., served on the U.S.S. Blackfin under the command of William Kitch. He mentions the "skipper" in a letter he sent to his parents while on the Blackfin during 1945. I found your link while researching the various names my Dad mentions in his letters. I know my father was involved with the Delaware Valley Submarine Veterans organization, based in Phila. PA. I was at a few of their functions, but don't remember meeting Bill Kitch, but that doesn't mean I didn't, the old memory, ya know? The organization helped renovate the sister boat U.S.S. Becuna, which is docked at Penns Landing.
