Lowell- I've seen some of Josephine's work, and it doesn't preclude the areas I've tried. Mussbach (there are two in the area, one is Pfalz, one is Baden, about 30-40 miles apart.) In the same church records (Steinsfurt area, Baden) we had K(umlaut)uttch, which is promounced the same as our Kitch. The other pre 1720 concentration of Kitch / Kitsch is the area around Karlsruhe to Wissembourg Alsace (German at our time) ro Pirmasens. The problem comes trying to read the old German script off of microfilms. I've gotten several potentials (name, time frame, location) but to date nothing linking definitely.
