Father of Mrs. W. H. Shipman Suddenly Expires
Mr. John Kittle of Milton, Iowa, who was here on a visit to his
daughter, Mrs. W H Shipman, of
Rykers Ridge, went up on the mailboat Sunday afternoon to visit friends
at Rising Sun. Instead, however of stopping first at that city, he went
on to Aurora to see relatvies living there.He had just entered the
house when he dropped dead of organic heart disease. Mr. and Mrs.
Shipman were notified
and left yesterday for Aurora, returning with the body of Mr. Kittle
this morning on the
steamer Kentucky.The decendent was eight years of age. The funeral
took place this
forenoon and the burial was in Springdale Cemetery.The servies at the
grave were conducted
by Rev. J W Hanger, of the Methodist church.

Mrs. W H Shipman Dead
Funeral Services will be held at Ryker's Ridge Monday
Mrs. Wm. H Shipman passed away at midnight last night at King's
Daughters hospital after a two
weeks illiness of lobar pneumonia.During this time no effort was
spared to bring about her recover.Miss Mary Shipman, county nurse,
being almost constantly in attendance at her bedside.
Born, Oct. 7, 1863, in Ohio County, Mrs. Shipman had lived well into her
eighty-fourth year. Her parents were
John and Mary Ann Kittle, and they, with herself and brother, Fremont,
when the children were
grown, removed to Milton, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage, Sept
2, 1907 to Wm. H Shipman of this county.This union continued happily
until his death Feb 8, 1921.While in Milton, Mrs. Shipman was an
active, and devout member of the Presbyterian chuch, being for many
years teacher of a young ladies class in Sunday school.On removing to
Ryker's Ridge her membership was transferred to Mt. Zion, M E church and
here she was a loyal member, also of the Women's Foreign Mssionary
Society, As a wise and helpful mother to Mr. Shipman's tree daughters,
she left nothing to be desired, in later years the grandchildren looked
upon her as their own, and by all these, as well as a host of friends
she in sincerely mourned.
Surviving relatvies are the sister in law, Mrs. Fremont Kittle and a
niece, Miss Nora Kittle of Milton, Iowa,
two stepdaughters, Miss Mary Shipman, Newport IN and Mrs. Wilbur Graham
W Lafayette IN. 8 step-grand
children. Funeral services will be held at the home of ryker's Ridge
Monday Afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with
Rev H A Broadwell officiating. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
