Robert, Yes, your Harold’s full name was Robert Harold Kittle. From http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~maryc/carl1924.htm 007546-24 (Carleton Co) Robert Harold KITTLE, 24, salesman, Carp Ont. Syracuse NY USA s/o Isaac Elon KITTLE (b. Finch Ont.) & Dorothy Hannah HAYES married Myrtle PAUL, 30, saleslady, Sudbury Ont. 6 Howick Place in Ottawa d/o Charles PAUL (b. Lachute in Quebec) & (?) Mary IRISH wtn: John J. PARKER of Ottawa West & Ruby A. PAUL of 6 Howick Place in Ottawa, 3 September 1924 at 122 Fourth St in Ottawa I don’t have any evidence for Hannah Hayes Kittle’s date of death, but it seems very likely she would have been buried in DeWitt. She was in very poor health in 1940 (see below), so a 1942 date of death is reasonable. According to his death notice (Syracuse Herald for 21 Feb 1936), Isaac Elon Kittle was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse. In May 1940, Robert H Kittle rescued his mother from a fire in their home at 14 Frederick St, East Syracuse. Robert carried his mother (an invalid and unable to walk) from the burning house, burning his hands as he opened the front door. The house was totally destroyed. (Syracuse Herald-Journal, 6 May 1940) And five years later, Gertrude (her full name was Elsie Gertrude) committed suicide by taking poison "due to despondency over ill health". (Syracuse Herald-Journal, 23 Oct 1945) My interest in this family is indirect. My ancestor was Mansur Kittle, who was living in Chatham, Argenteuil, Lower Canada between 1814 and 1826. His daughter, Nancy Kittle (born 16 Oct 1821, my great-great-grandmother) was baptized a Mormon 6 Apr 1843, probably in Dundas or Stormont County, Upper Canada. I am following all Kittles with Argenteuil, Dundas or Stormont connections, hoping that they are related and can provide more information on Mansur’s and Nancy’s lives. Your Elon Kittle lived in both Argenteuil and Stormont, so I have been collecting information on him and his family for some time. Contact me directly if you would like more information on Elon Kittle’s Argenteuil history. Paul Notify Administrator about this message?
