Nope, can't prove who she belongs to. By process of elimination, it had to be either (1.) Hendrick; (2.) Adam. As I recall, she married in 1742 (tombstone); therefore she was born circa 1720. Hendrick, Adam, and Abraham were in Conewago by 1739 (Adam Forney's list), and Anthony by 1751 when he inherited Hendrick's land (1751 Digges deed). Adam was most likely a son of Hendrick, for he was in Germantown by 1724 (contributions to building the wall at Axes Burial ground). Abraham. born 1715 (tombstone), and Anthony, born circa 1720, were brothers and sons of Hendrick (PA 1741 warrant, and 1751 deed). So I speculate Esther was a sister of Abraham, Anthony, and Adam. But need a Bible record (which Bible was listed in Mennonite Hendrick Sellen's inventory of Nov 1749-York Co. Probates), and I think it probably burned up in 1750 when Anthony Sell, tax collector in Heidelberg Twp, was paid by the township for the loss of his house in a fire (newspaper article by Dr. Glatfelter, Evening Sun, Aug. 1999). So, we move on with best guesses.

I am in Kent, WA, a 'burb of Seattle, but visit Littlestown every year in August for Sell reunion. I also do extensive research on Adams/York/Carroll/Frederick Counties, and have a fairly good library and working knowledge of the early Digges Choice and Adams County residents. I have several good sources in Adams/York...John Mehring, and Wendy Bish-McGrew who help me out. Will be glad to exchange any more info. Richard Sell
