I found a rumor online that Newton Jasper's parents were not James Hardin and Margaret. After looking more closely at census records, I'm pretty certain that Margaret was not his mother. The rumor I read said that neither were his parents, but that he took on the Kizer last name since he was living with them. There was only one census that I could find before he married (1870). He is listed as living in the household with James (aka Hardy) and Margaret. However, in this census, no relation was noted. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
