I believe James' father was Michael. I believe James was married first to Amanda and had a son James (maybe other children). In the 1850 census, you will see him in McNairy county (living next to my line, which is John Kizer). There is also Michael listed. There is also a Margaret and Eliza, which is probably a sister-in-law and her daughter, who are probably widowed. I believe James and Amanda (in one of the census records, she is listed as Clarinda) are together in the 1870 census. I believe he then married Mary Ann Williams (which I believe is related to the other side of my family, coincidentally) in 1872.
