Frances -- don't know if we've talked before, but I'm trying to establish whether the Polly Boyd married Robert Kizziah is the daughter of Robert Boyd, War of 1812 vet and my ancestor. His Polly as noted in Family Bible was born Sep 28, 1801 (Mecklenburg Co., NC). Polly's sister, Sarah, married my ancestor James Newell. The Boyds, Newells, and Kizziahs were a closely entwined group settling in Tuscaloosa Co., Al in early 1830s. Robert's daughter, Elizabeth married William M. Kizziah, Jr.; his son William W. Boyd married (1) Susan Kizziah. Several descendants of these Boyds and Newells married other Kizziahs. And yes, the name is spelled as many ways as imaginable but most seemed to be a variation of the Southern "r" sound on words ending in the vowel "a" or an "a" sound, thus Kizzia(h) becomes Kizziar, Kizzire, etc. Some researchers have indicate that Robert Lee Kizziah was a brother to William M. Kizziah, Jr. which could be quite possible. My main concern is that there are two grandchildren in the Boyd Family Bible that I had assumed belonging to William and Elizabeth (Boyd) Kizziah. They could be Robert and Polly (Boyd) Kizziah's. One of these, John Alexander Kizziah (born Sep 1, 1829)is possibly the Alex Kizziah on the 1850 Fayette census. Then there is the Tuscaloosa marriage record for John A. Kizziah to Elizabeth Wilkins Dec 14, 1850. However, I have no way of proving the connections. The other grandchild is Anna Caroline Kizziah (Oct 21, 1827) who probably married and I have no further info. Most researchers of these families seem to not know about Robert Boyd's grandchildren born in NC before the families came to AL.
