The pronounciation of Kizziah has been a fluid thing in Alabama as well. Lots of the older people around pronounce it as if it was Kuh-zy-er (with the accent on the second syllable.) I pronounce it Kuh-zy-uh with the accent still on the second syllable. I think whether it is Kizziah, Kizziar, Kizzia, Kiziah, Keziah, Kiziar, or whatever, it likely comes from the same immigrant (or immigrants.) It is a name that certainly generates comment, and I am proud it is mine... My lineage (as far as I know it)is:
father: Charlie (Charles) Custus KIZZIAH b.1914, Northport, AL. m. Ida Christine REESE 1938. d. 1993, Samantha, AL.
grandfather: Alford (Alfred) Luke KIZZIAH b. 1884, Vance, AL m. Velma SNYDER 1911. d. 1964, Northport, AL.
ggrandfather: Charlie (Charley) Maradise KIZZIAH b. 1850, Vance, AL m. Frances Elizabeth Rolen (Roland) 1874. d. 1912 Tuscaloosa County, AL.
gggrandfather: Emanuel KIZZIAH, Sr. b. 1818 NC (probably) m. Elizabeth Ann WILLIAMS 1838. d. unknown.
If this matches up with anything y'all have, contact me and I will be willing to share the very little I have.
Good luck all.
