On the 1860 census of Montgomery County, AR it shows John & Martha with Henry Bascom, age 10, Ellen age 8, John age 6, Mary age 4, another Henry age 16 and Nancy age 12. This is from page 84, Dwelling #556 Family #556.
The problem I'm having with this is that all the children have a last name of Bascom. John married Permela Hall 29 Jan 1866 in Montgomery County. According to my father-in-law, Charlie Kizziar, Permella had a child, Mack, from a previous marriage. He also said to the best of his knowledge the children by John & Martha settled around Altus, OK. I've had no luck checking this out. Anyway, John & Permella had General Lafayette (Charlies Dad), Lindsey and Hettie.
I have these families down pretty well. I too would like to settle the Bascom Question and also hear from the John Kizziar/Martha Lightfoot descendants.
