Susan,

It appears that Bernard had at least 1 brother John and possibly a sister Henrietta (it could have been John's wife) as they all showed up on an 1860 census.

The came from the Oldenburg. Bernard was born in Delmenhorst in January 1838 according to his tombstone.

I don't have a lot of information on John other than he held a number of odd jobs including a meatcutter.

I have even less of Henrietta.
