It is interesting that you said the Klattes you are looking for are from Bremen. My great great grandfather Bernard, according to his headstone, was from Delmenhorst. Delmenhorst is right across the river from Bremen and not too far from Oldenburg. He was born in 1838 and died in 1872. I know from information in the Cincinnati Williams directory and the 1860 Census that he lived with a John Francis Klatte. It also appears that there was a Henriette that was born around 1837 according the the census that I suspect was a sister. I do not know the name of Bernard, John or Henriette's parents. If you may have any connection please let me know.

I am planning on traveling to Bremen on 1/2004 and intend on visiting Delmenhorst during that trip. Hopefully I can gather some type of information.
