Kevin, thanks for your response. If we are related, which I suspect that we are, your Bernard Klatte was my GGGrandfather's brother who has a father named, John. This is what I have: John Klatte (b abt 1804 in Oldenburg), son Gerhardt (changed to George)Klatte (b abt1827 in Breman). Married Adelaide Sular (b1835 in Oldenburg). Children (supposedly named after his siblings): Henry (Heinrich)John Klatte (b1860 Oldenburg); John (Johann) Klatte (b1862 Oldenburg); Anna Klatte (b1858 Oldenburg); Albert John Klatte (b2/26/1863 Oldenburg); Bernard (b1865/1866 in New York); William John Klatte and Ella Klatte (b 1869 in NewYork). If the above is accurate, then the family should have arrived in New York between 1862 and 1865. I cannot find them on any passenger listings.
Not sure if any of this helps you or not. I'm working on a smaller Klatte file of these older Klattes. Send me your email address directly and I'll attach the file for you. Good luck with your trip. I hope you find some helpful information in your geneological search...and even more, I hope that we are related and can share some of the informational gaps!
I did find a listing for 36 Klattes in Germany from 1600 to 1800s. There is a Gerhard b 29 Oct 1661 Neuenkirchen, Oldenburg.
