I am looking for information on a Kleinhans who was captain of a company of Northampton County (PA) militia during the Revolutionary War. His company was sent to the Crooked Billet (Hatboro PA) at one point during the war. I would mainly like to know what class of militia this company was drawn from, and any other details on their active service.
It is quite possible that he pronounced his name with a strong Palatine (i.e., Pa. Dutch) accent, giving rise to strange-looking phonetic spellings of his name (e.g., Clayhons).
