I am trying to help my step-sons trace their Clynes / Kleinstuber family history.
Both their grandfather and g-grandfather are Clynes and were born in Sheffield, UK.
It is believed that their g-g-grandfather may have been a Kleinstuber, but it is possible even he was a Clyne. We are trying to find out when the name changed.
The Kleinstuber/Clynes originate from Austria, and may have come to the UK via Ireland.
Their g-grandfather was a drummer boy in the Army - but the regiment is not known.
Their g-g-grandfather was a band-conductor and it is believed that more of the family were involved in the music field, possibly in Austria.
Can anyone throw any light on this
