I have done some research on Carl/Charles G. Kleist and his wife Johanna. I have a family obituary and I researched his death ceretificate and they said that Carl was b. December 1, 1839 Warlang,Pommerina/Prussia. Warlang may have miss spelled I have found Warling and now I belive it is called something else and is part of Poland.
Carl G. and Johanna (Schockel)Kleist were married November 27, 1864 before coming over to America.
Carl died December 30, 1922 in Portage, Wisconsin and buried in the Oak Grove Portage
On Carl G. Kleist death ceretificate it names Christian Kleist as his father so we can asume this is also August Kleists father.
The children of Carl and Johanna were:

Charles G. b. Sept. 14, 1881 in Portage, Wi.
Bertha Maria b. Apr. 13, 1870 in Warlang, Pommerina/Prussia.
Mrs. Emil Rupp of Tomahawk, Wi.
Mrs. Theo Boeck of Lewiston, Wi.

By the obituary there were nine children.
I would love to find passanger list's for Charles and August.
