Your right they all came around the sametime period but you say your relitve came from Baden well August E. Kleist brother Carl/Charles Kleist is said to be from Warlang/Wahrlang which was in Prussia and is now in Poland. Also I have found another Kleist family that came from Valaren, Pomerania, Germany. So it is suggesting they came from diffrent places.
When searching for the Kleist name it would be wise to also look for Von Kleist germans sometimes used Von before a name just like the french used de and the Normans used la. There such a family in Germany with the surname von Kleist they are a old family. I was told by some German person this when I was asking about the Kleist coat of arms to see if it was also my families coat of arms and he did not seem to want to consider this possiblty.
