He came from the area around Lodze, Poland. I think he was born in 1887. There isn't much history on him. He worked in the mines in Virginia, Minnesota. He got sick(stomach) and was sent to Rochester, Minn. where he later died in August of 1923. They said that the inside of his stomach had turned to 90% cream. It was told that the day he died, his family was all at home and there were three loud knocks at the door. They answered it and nobody was there. Later that day they received notice that he had died. They said that it was their dad coming home. Notes for Anna CZAJKA (CYKA) Her grandpa was a great landowner in Poland. He had borrowed some money from a Jewish banker and in the end lost his land over money disputes. In the 1800's her parents came to the states and tried to settle in Michigan. They couldn't make a go of it and ended up going back to Poland. From what we know, she had one sister, one brother ( Paul) and two half brothers ( Alec and John). She came overseas with her brother Paul. They pretended to be husband and weife so they would be safer on the boat. THe married couples were in a separate area on the boat from the single people. Her sister married a man named Dankar. They supposedly settled in New Jersey where they owned a grocery store. Her brother Paul jopined the army and then lived in Arizona. He was an expert rifleman. He once won a box of cigars from the Emperor of Japan by putting on a swimming and shooting show. No history on her half brother Alec. Her half brother John moved to Chicago where he became a bootlegger. She met John Klekotka in Virginia, Minn. where they married and lived out their lives. After John passed away she got married to Pete Moleski. I have more info on this if you are interested. ---------------------------------------- Last Modified: 17 Mar 2002 Created: 17 Mar 2002 Notify Administrator about this message?
