All I have is US Census 1870 Linn County, IA. Caroline aged 35 married to Henry Schmidt, age 44. Caroline listed born in Hannover (sic). My grandfather's letter says she came to America with 3 brothers for sure. One a shoemaker, one a wealthy farmer near Creston, Iowa, and another a wealthy box maufacturer in Chicago. Henry and Caroline lived at one time in Peoria where Henry ran a brewery with a partner. They also lived in Galena, IL and Dubuque IA according to my grandfather's letter. The 1870 Census shows son William Henry Schmidt as 12 years old, which means a marriage about 1858. Her son by her first marriage: Fred Schneider(Snyder) was born May7,1850 and died May1,1896 and is buried on Smith plot in Cedar Rapids. Is this any help? Barb
