Tonawanda City is in Erie County, New York near Niagara Falls. On a social security application, he wrote that he was an orphan from Canada with a George Smith listed as his guardian. I had talked to a distant cousin (Lillian's nephew) 20 years ago (since died) and he had said that Edward was from a town called Sanborn which is north of Tonawanda. He married a Lillian Henrietta Schlenker around 1920 who lived at 200 Main Street in Tonawanda City according to the 1920 census. According to a 1930 census, it states that he was 26 when he was first married and his wife (Lillian) was 28 when first married. If this isn't a typo, he must have been married 10 years previous to this marriage? She was born June 7, 1891.
