Hey, I'am Dutch. I'am doing research of the history of my family. We do not have any relation with German Klinkenberg's. All my greatgrandfather's are born in Holland. The oldest document of Klinkenberg (spelled Clinkenberg/Clinckenberch) is from 1327. It is a very old name and which comes from Sassenheim/Warmond, near Leiden. Everything is called Klinkenberg, for example thevillage Klinkenberg, Klinkenbergerpolder, Klinkenbergermolen (windmill, gone in 1938), Klinkenbergerplas (a lake), Klinkenbergerbrug (bridge) ect. If you are interested in the history, you can contact me.
The name Klingenberg is diverent to the name of Klinkenberg. There are theories of the familyroots. Maybe we come from vikings (archeological research). In Norway you can find a village Klingenberg. If it is thrue, we do not know.
