Hello Uwe,
Thank you for telling me about the many names of Klingenberg today in Germany. My ancestors left Germany about 1848 to go to Russia. They had lived in Hamburg. I am trying to find out if they first lived in Klingenberg, the town southeast of Frankfurt or if they lived in the town of Klingenberg near Dresden, or somewhere else. They lived somewhere in the area of Germany when it was still small kingdoms at least as early as 1797 or sooner. How far back can you trace your genealogy? Did your family always live in Germany or did they move from Sweden or Norway? It seems like many Germans came from one of the Scandinavian countries. I hope to hear from you again.
