Spelling of Klipstein

For the last 100 years or so our family has spelled our surname Klipstine. The majority of the men are William or Wilhelm. My understanding is that the family came from Germany, somewhere along the Rhine, in the 1830's and were in the mid-Ohio area. Anyone out there who knows this branch of the family?
