Okay, here is all we know for now..maybe it may help, or maybe it may spark an light into further research for us as well...

My husband's grandfather...Kurt Eugene Klix came into US from Eastern Germany in the late 40's around time Russia was in Germany during the war. His Grandmothers name was Anna Klix (Sp?) they brought their oldest son Herbert Klix with them and later had two more sons, Raymond and Fred ( don't know if Fred or Fredrick) in New Jersey. we figured he may not have came through Ellis Island as he was a POW and may have gone through Canada. ( Grandfather made it to US first, then sent for grandmother and son)

My husband's oldest brother has a book of family research and information provided by their ancestors. The last entry was made by Kurt (grandfather). Unfortunatley it is all in German, and it has yet to be translated. It does however, trace the family as far back as 1155( yes...way back in 1155). A family crest was located within this journal to which my husband and two other brothers have copies. There was mention with the crest of the family name being Von Klix at one time but changed to Klix, however we do not have a date. It was mentioned the surname Von may have indicated land ownership at that time.

Someday we will be able to have the complete journal translated, but it will be quite a task as it is a very large collection, and is being kept by the eldest brother. I am sure many questions will be answered and it should hold some very interesting facts.

I hope this may sound somewhat familiar to someone, if not prove to be an interest.
