Joseph Klopfer, who brought his family to America in 1750 and settled in York Co., PA was from Metterzimmern, Wurttemburg, Germany. He married there, on 28 Nov 1741 as his second wife, Anna Christina Schopff. His eldest son, Leonard, was by his first wife Maria Agnes Rapp, to whom he was married on 23 Jan 1731. His other sons, including George, were by Christina. The baptismal records for most of his children born before 1750 are in the Metterzimmern Church Records. The identity of the PA immigrants with Joseph and Christina (Schopff) Klopfer of Metterzimmern is certain, since the birth dates for Joseph Klopfer and Christina Schopff in the Metterzimmern Church Records match the birth dates given for Joseph and Christina Klopfer on their tombstones in PA!
My parents and I have worked out two to three generations of the ancestry of Joseph and Christina (Schopff) Klopfer. Please contact me directly for further information. My home e-mail is: sharon@sword.net
