Have you tried the City Hall in Beerfelden to obtain information concerning your family? Ella Gieg has written several books about the Odenwald area. If you search the internet you may find her address,
The Family History Center (Mormons)have several films regarding Beerfelden and other towns in Odenwald.
My grandfather, August Volk came to the US with his father, George Frederick Volk, from Beerfelden in 1894. The family left from Bremen, Germany. They settled in Minnesota.
Beerfelden is a moderate size town with many stucco type homes that have the wooden decorto hold the plaster together. The town was almost completely burned in 1810 because of the many wooden structures throughout the village. Fortunately, not all was lost.
I visited the city in 2000 and am glad that I did.
