Philip Knab >DEU>Belleville, IL

I'm researching the Knab family of Belleville, Illinois. My grandmother always said that the family came from Heidelberg, Germany. I haven't been able to find any evidence of this. The oldest Knab ancestor I have is Philip Knab b. 1827 d. 6-5-1905 m. Elizabeth Kress or Hock (that's another mystery)they lived in Belleville, Illinois.
They had 5 children: John William Sr. b. 9-13-1859 d. 12-20-1941 m. Josephine Studer (my great Grandparents);Louis b. 10-1861 m. Anna Frick; Michael b. 1864; ??? b. 1866 (I couldn't read the census microfiche)m. Oswald Welz ;Margaretha "Maggie" b. 1875 m. Frederick Stuhmiller
If anyone has information on the Knabs I'd truly appreciate hearing from them.

Thanks in advance,

Mary Tomcsanyi
