I cannot say that I have had any problems with nicknames Sarah, neither at school nor when I became a headteacher. (Not that I know of that is!!) I have asked my children including my Sarah Knapper and they say the same. Our name is quite unusual full of mystery in terms of where we came from. My son Russell likes to think we originated from the Vikings and has been following the recent Viking documentary series on the television avidly. I think he likes the idea of wearing a horned helmet and a long jewel encrusted sword though it would raise a few eyebrows if he walked through our town dressed like that! In terms of the total population of this country we are few in numbers and therefore I like to think we are special. If you think about it we could have been born with a much harder name to handle with respect to nicknames.

Best wishes

Leon Knapper
