Well I'll go to the back of our house there is life elsewhere in the universe!!

Glad to meet you Eddie. We both share the same great great grandparents and therefore we are related. Well that is a turn up for the book. I am stunned!

No I'm afraid that I haven't a DOB for William but I guess it must be around 1830 with the baptism presumably at Kidsgrove. He was 51 in 1881, thats how I arrived at 1830. I have been meaning to go to the Staffordshire Records Office and trace the line back from William. Now there will be added impetus.

Incidently my grandfather another Herbert Knapper was the one to branch out from the mining and pottery industry. He started making sweets at the back of his shop in Normacott and later Burslem. He ended up with a sweet factory at Port Hill with its own railway sidings exporting his sweets across the world according to my dad Harold 87 years old and still like a Spring Chicken.

Best wishes

Leon from Oswestry Shropshire
