Morning Frank

It is quite surprising that some many of us have ancestors who originate in Kidsgrove. Eddie Knapper and I share the same great great grandfather William Knapper and we are currently facing the proverbial brick wall because when William married for some reason the names of his father and his wife's father were left off the marriage certificate. Most inconsiderate I say. What on earth was the vicar thinking of making life difficult for us family historians!! Eddie and I are trying to resolve the problem though I have to say that it is Eddie more than me because he lives in the Stoke on Trent area. He is doing all the leg work. Thanks Eddie Our William was a collier and there is a possibility that he was the son of George and Sarah Knapper of Kidsgrove. If this is so then William born in 1829 will have had brothers Samuel b 1827, Sarah b 1825 and a Charles who we have yet to tie into the family. For me it is interesting to speculate why there appears to be a strong nucleus of Knappers in the Kidsgrove area at the beginning of the 1800. If they were economic migrants why on earth did they come from?
