I have just discovered a Knapper in my tree.
Alice Knapper b.circa 1866 in Kidsgrove.
She married into my GAUNT line, spouse Arthur Gaunt
I think I have her on the 1881 census, age 15, living in Congleton,Ches.parents Mark and Ann and siblings, some born Kidsgrove, some born Congleton.
Had a look at the IGI and Census index, quite a lot of Knappers in Staffordshire.
